Feeling the Vacation Vibes

Since we're just re-booting our blog, we're taking this time to go *back* in time, and revisit some designs we never shared on here!

The first we'd like to share is our All-White Mexico inspired shoot, which seems oh so perfect to bring back as the weather warms up and we start dreaming of far-away vacays.

We designed this shoot with Tulum in mind, using worldly furniture from Elan Event Rentals, a gorgeous Rue De Seine wedding gown from Moondance Bridal, and natural accents to bring the design all together. The shoot took place at the Dos Pueblos Orchid farm, a venue a little North of Santa Barbara, that feels like another world!

What we love about this shoot is that we pushed ourselves to design around white and neutrals. Typically we use a lot of color in our designs, but we absolutely LOVE how the different tones of white look with the natural wood accents, and the greenhouse venue itself. With enough texture, simplicity in a color scheme completely works! We have a few weddings later this year that are based on a white palette, so keep checking our Instagram for updates on those.

And a huge thank you goes out to Style Me Pretty for featuring this fun shoot. We are so happy that SMP is continuing to thrive as a blog, as it's been a favorite of ours forever.

We have been waiting so patiently for this shoot to be published, and are so excited the day has finally come. This shoot was a labor of love, and we had the opportunity to put together a wonderful team to execute the design. .

We first blogged about our inspiration for the shoot, here. There is no shortage to the amazingness that can be created at this venue. It's the perfect blank slate to create upon and is great for brides of all different styles, which is why we love it.

We can't wait to design a real wedding here, but for now, enjoy the photos of what it could be. We hope these images inspire brides to take advantage of natural beauty and to think outside the box of a typical wedding.

And yes, one half of Lovelyfest (Stephanie) is modeling in these photos with her boyfriend, only because the models couldn't make it last minute- it goes to show how much magic Cameron can create behind the lens!

Seaside Inspiration

It could be the fog that's been rolling in every morning, or our yearning for summer, but there's no hiding that we're inspired by the sea and the blue and gray tones that come with it. How gorgeous would a wedding be based on these colors and ideas below?

We're inspired by the monochromatic blues found in the sea and sky, and think it's the perfect "something blue" for a wedding day. All images found online on Pinterest, our favorite wedding blogs, and design vendors websites. This design board was created for a future styled shoot, but we would love to make this into a real wedding one day.

The Design Process: Meeting > Brainstorm

Today we're beginning a new series on our blog where we share all about our design process for weddings! From initial meeting to dream wedding and all the details in between.

Scout Coffee in San Luis Obispo

First we're going to share about a lovely couple who will be getting married in 2015 at Greengate Ranch and Vineyard in San Luis Obispo. This place is gorgeous and we couldn't wait to hear all about the bride and groom's wishes for their big day. We met the two over a cup of coffee and began discussing their dream wedding! We are hired on as their Design + Month-Of Coordinators, and are already getting seriously excited for next year.

I mean, how cute is this coffee shop?

Immediately after the meeting, we began brainstorming ideas {the men in our lives are not the biggest fans of hearing wedding talk all day, every day, but we just can't stop}. After hearing snippets of what the bride loves, what the groom hates, and simply getting a general idea of their taste, we make design boards to convey the mood/colors/design of their wedding.

We use Pinterest, our own portfolio, and vendor websites to curate these boards. Pinterest is so great because you can type in a few words of what you envision, and scroll {sometimes for hours} down until you find just what you were thinking! We never copy things exactly as we see them on Pinterest, and that is never our plan. These photos are just to give our clients an idea of the overall mood we envision for their wedding! We love to use actual photos from rental companies and linen companies to show clients what they would get in terms of flatware, linens, chairs, etc.

It is a tad bit scary clicking send once we create our boards- crossing our fingers that they will love it! Usually they do, but if not, we take suggestions and change up the boards as much as needed. These are made to reflect the style and personality of our couples {just as their wedding will}, and it is important that they are perfect! Fortunately, our bride and groom were happy with this board, making our design process even faster. Can't wait to share more next week!
