Royal Baby Shower Sneak Peek

For the last five months, we have been knee-deep in everything royal blue and gold in preparation for one special baby shower! Our mommy-to-be client knew from the start that she wanted an over-the-top celebration for her growing baby boy in all her favorite colors. We put together some design boards for her (below) which she loved, and got to work!

Our palette consisted of gold, white and blue ombre, ranging from royal to light powder blue.

The day of the shower finally came a few weekends ago, and it came out exactly how we imagined! We put so much heart into this event and truly think it showed. Our mommy and daddy-to-be were overjoyed with how it came out, and had a fantastic time with friends and family celebrating their bun in the oven!

This iPhone snap is of the extravagant desserts table we designed and decorated with gorgeous Roni Sugar Creations desserts and Sweet and Saucy Shop treats! We can't wait to show all the professional photos in the next few weeks!

Design Board // Biddle Ranch Wedding Shoot

Whether it's a styled wedding shoot or a real wedding, inspiration strikes us in the same way. We'll brainstorm together during a walk outside, start pinning beautiful images on Pinterest, and then make a mood board that encompasses our ideas. After we're happy with the design board, we'll send it to vendors to give them an idea of the overall look.

These boards were the inspiration behind our most recent styled wedding shoot. It took place at a new VRBO and wedding venue called Biddle Ranch Vineyard in the Edna Valley. We are still obsessed with the look of these boards! We were going for a romantic, organic, modern and updated vineyard feel with gorgeous bountiful florals and stunning natural elements to make the venue shine.

Our design boards are used to convey a mood, and we don't copy the images in them exactly. We actually had to nix our bougainvillea idea completely (even though it is very prevalent in the boards) because it was not in season during shooting. Laurel from Adornments Flowers, who designed along with us for this shoot, exceeded our expectations tenfold. See a few sneak peeks on our Instagram of Cameron Ingalls' photos, as well as one of our favorites below..

Stay tuned for a full feature in the next few months, we can't wait to share the entire thing!

The Design Process: Meeting > Brainstorm

Today we're beginning a new series on our blog where we share all about our design process for weddings! From initial meeting to dream wedding and all the details in between.

Scout Coffee in San Luis Obispo

Scout Coffee in San Luis Obispo

First we're going to share about a lovely couple who will be getting married in 2015 at Greengate Ranch and Vineyard in San Luis Obispo. This place is gorgeous and we couldn't wait to hear all about the bride and groom's wishes for their big day. We met the two over a cup of coffee and began discussing their dream wedding! We are hired on as their Design + Month-Of Coordinators, and are already getting seriously excited for next year.

I mean, how cute is this coffee shop?

Immediately after the meeting, we began brainstorming ideas {the men in our lives are not the biggest fans of hearing wedding talk all day, every day, but we just can't stop}. After hearing snippets of what the bride loves, what the groom hates, and simply getting a general idea of their taste, we make design boards to convey the mood/colors/design of their wedding.

We use Pinterest, our own portfolio, and vendor websites to curate these boards. Pinterest is so great because you can type in a few words of what you envision, and scroll {sometimes for hours} down until you find just what you were thinking! We never copy things exactly as we see them on Pinterest, and that is never our plan. These photos are just to give our clients an idea of the overall mood we envision for their wedding! We love to use actual photos from rental companies and linen companies to show clients what they would get in terms of flatware, linens, chairs, etc.

It is a tad bit scary clicking send once we create our boards- crossing our fingers that they will love it! Usually they do, but if not, we take suggestions and change up the boards as much as needed. These are made to reflect the style and personality of our couples {just as their wedding will}, and it is important that they are perfect! Fortunately, our bride and groom were happy with this board, making our design process even faster. Can't wait to share more next week!

Agate Slice Place Cards + Wedding Prepping

We're prepping for a fun modern wedding coming up this weekend, and we've got some pretty exciting design elements in the works that we just couldn't wait to share!

Agate has been popping up everywhere, and we can't get enough. We got a huge shipment of it in last week, and this is how it looked..

I mean, those colors?! Insane. We had an idea of what we wanted to do with these little guys (they're about 3" wide), and that was to use them as place cards for each guest! See below:

We wrote on them with beautiful gold foil pens (iPhone photos don't quite do it justice), and gave the caterers a little heads up on Beef or Fish in the right hand corner. Don't they just look adorable?!

We also can't wait to show you what we've done with the larger agate slices. It's going to be a Palm Springs wedding full of modern, yet earthy decor and it's sure to be a pretty one. We'll be sharing photos of this weekend on our Instagram, so check that out as well!
